Award Categories

We’re naming The Otter Awards after the very animals that support our aquatic ecosystems. There are five awards categories:

The Otter is our highest honour — recognising the business that has demonstrated team work, empathy, social impact, and innovation. While otters may not be the ultimate river leaders, they are resourceful and social, often finding clever ways to get ahead.

There are four more special accolades — The Salmon, The Manatee, The Beaver and The Dolphin. Named after animals that thrive alongside otters, these awards are given to businesses that embody our core values.

How The Voting Works

The Otter Awards bring together votes from both verified senior industry leaders and the wider community, with every vote counting equally.

At the end of the voting process, the businesses with the most votes in each category will be crowned winners. Among them, the overall winner—selected as the Business of the Year—will be crowned The Otter.

Who are senior industry leaders? Decision-makers who shape strategy, drive growth, and influence industry impact, including:
